Adjustable Tip Weights

The Heavy Putter™ comes with two Stainless Steel(45g) Tip Weights installed in the putter head and an optional Tip Weight Kit comprised of two Aluminum(20g) tip weights, two Copper Tungsten(70g) tip weights, and an Allen wrench. The adjustable weights alter the head weight between 450, 475, and 500 grams. This allows the golfer to fine tune the balance point of the putter to match his or her stroke characteristics.

Long and Belly Putter Adjustable Tip Weights

Our testing found that for longer putters the optimal head weight is heavier than conventional lengths. Consequently, Heavy Putter™ Long and Belly Putters come with two 47.5 gram Tungsten Tip Weights installed and an optional Tip Weight Kit that includes 37.5 gram and 60 gram tip weights.

Recommended Weight Changes

  • Missing Right: Increase head weight
Reason it works: Increasing the head weight lowers the putter's balance point which promotes a greater putter head release though impact.
  • Missing Left: Decrease head weight
Reason it works: Decreasing the head weight heightens the putter's balance point which promotes less putter head release through impact
  • Missing Short: Increase head weight
Reason it works: Increasing the head weight lowers the putter's balance point which promotes a greater putter head release though impact. A greater head weight also increases the momentum of the putter head through impact.
  • Missing Long: Decrease head weight
Reason it works: Decreasing the head weight heightens the putter's balance point which promotes less putter head release through impact. A smaller head weight also decreases the momentum of the putter head through impact.

Altering the Path of Stroke

Through extensive testing we discovered that unbalanced tip weight combinations will help straighten the path of putting strokes with even the slightest path flaws.

Recommended Path Corrections

  • For a golfer with an Outside to In path (cutting across the ball), we recommend placing heavier weight in the heel relative to the toe.
  • For a golfer with an Inside to Out path, we recommend placing lighter weight in the heel relative to the toe.

Length

We believe the length of the putter should be matched to a player's posture rather than asking the player to alter his or her posture to accommodate a predetermined length. Consequently, we offer The Heavy Putter™ in standard lengths from 32 to 36 inches for conventional style putters. Custom lengths are also available. The Heavy Putter™ is also available in mid and long versions at various lengths.

Personal Fitting System Advantages

  • The Heavy Putter™ Personal Fitting Process allows the golfer to manipulate the balance point of the putter to match his or her release characteristics. The correct combination will improve a golfer's stroke.
  • Adjusting the head weight has been proven to enhance a golfer's distance control and directional accuracy.
  • Different green speeds may cause a golfer to leave putts consistently short or long. Altering the head weight of the putter can help alleviate this problem.
  • Sometimes something as simple as a different feel can spark improved putting results. Adjustable tip weights provide a new feel.
  • Other putter manufacturers use the same head weight for all lengths of putters. This creates a loss in feel with shorter putters. Interchangeable tip weights allow the golfer to increase head mass to maintain proper feel on shorter putters.
  • Unbalanced tip weight combinations will bias the path of the putting stroke and help correct path flaws.
